Search for Civil Servant Who Fell into Cisadane River Continues, Bag Found Floating

The search for a Bogor City Government civil servant named Bayu Zulkarnain, who fell into the Cisadane River in Cipaku, South Bogor, West Java, is ongoing. The victim’s bag was found floating within a 100-metre radius of the point where he is believed to have fallen, while his motorcycle was discovered lying on the bridge.

‘The motorcycle was found lying on the bridge, and the helmet and bag were on the water’s surface about 100 metres from the suspected fall point,’ said the Head of the Bogor City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Dimas Tiko Prahadisasongko, when contacted on Friday (14/8/2026).

Tiko stated that the search process is continuing into its second day today. A total of 70 personnel have been deployed from the BPBD, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the police, the fire brigade, the Disaster Alert Youth Corps (Tagana), and the local community to search for the victim.

‘A combined dive team is currently carrying out the rescue operation. There are members from the fire brigade, Basarnas, and BPBD. Furthermore, a land search team has also been deployed. The land search team is checking the nets that have been installed, and coincidentally, within a radius of about 100 to 200 metres, there are still natural nets,’ he explained.

‘So there are still many rocks and such. Thus, there is a land search or land visualisation team and also a dive team. We are optimising various resources. Hopefully, the search process today will yield results,’ he added.

The incident occurred on Thursday (13/8) at around 7:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. The victim is suspected to have fallen while crossing a steep bridge on a route he frequently used daily.

‘Looking at the chronology, it is indeed a bridge for motorbikes, and the descent is quite steep. However, he used this bridge route daily for his commute,’ he clarified.

Tiko suspects that due to the steepness, the victim fell into the river. This suspicion is reinforced by the condition of the motorcycle lying on the bridge and the victim’s bag floating in the river.

‘Perhaps it was fate. It was fate that at the time of the incident yesterday, at the end of the bridge’s descent, he fell like that,’ he added.
