Search for Bogor Civil Servant Swept Away in Cisadane River Called Off After Seven Days

The search operation for Bayu Zulkarnaen (36), a civil servant with the Bogor City Government who is believed to have gone missing in the Cisadane River, South Bogor, Bogor City, has been officially called off. The closure was made because Bayu had not been found by the seventh day of the SAR operation.

“I am relaying the message from our colleagues at Basarnas: the post for handling the missing person in Cipaku, Bogor City, after seven days of searching in accordance with SOP, is declared closed as of today, since around 4.30 p.m.,” said Head of the Bogor City Archives and Library Office Taufik to reporters on Wednesday (19/8/2026).

Bayu Zulkarnaen is a civil servant working at the Bogor City Archives and Library Office. Bayu went missing after he is believed to have fallen from a bridge into the Cisadane River while riding a motorbike last week.

“(The reason for closing it) is because the stipulated seven-day search period has been fulfilled, and no signs were found in the field, either along the Cisadane river flow or on land,” Taufik continued.

Separately, Head of the Bogor City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Dimas Tiko Prahadi Sasongko said the SAR operation post for the search for Bayu has been disbanded. The search will be resumed if officers obtain new information.

“As of today, the seventh day, at around 4.30 p.m., the SAR post, the SAR operation post for the search for Bayu in Cipaku Subdistrict, has been disbanded. So in general, today’s search results still have not found any signs of Bayu’s whereabouts,” Dimas said.

Dimas expressed hope that Bayu can still be found even though the SAR operation has been officially closed. The SAR team has distributed leaflets containing information about the missing person and continues to install nets along the Cisadane river flow, especially at the initial point where the victim is believed to have fallen.

“We have not removed our nets yet; our nets are still secured here, still stretched out,” he added.
