Search Continues for Man Suspected of Jumping from Merangin Bridge in Kampar
A joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team has continued its operation for a second day to find a man suspected of jumping from the Merangin Bridge in Merangin Village, Kuok District, Kampar Regency, Riau. Head of the Pekanbaru Class A Search and Rescue Office, Budi Cahyadi, stated that the search commenced with a briefing at 07:00 WIB, followed by a sweep around the incident location extending up to approximately 4 kilometres downstream along the Kampar River, in accordance with the day two operational plan. The search operation involves personnel from the Pekanbaru Class A Search and Rescue Office alongside joint SAR elements, employing surface-level river sweeping methods in designated sectors. Budi explained that all personnel prioritise occupational safety aspects and the use of personal protective equipment during the operation. The victim has been identified as BG, 25, a resident of Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency. He revealed that by the end of the second day of searching, the victim had still not been found. The joint SAR team will continue the search efforts according to the operational plan, with the hope that the victim can be located soon.
