Search Continues for Man Suspected of Jumping from Merangin Bridge in Kampar
The joint SAR team continued its second day of search operations for a man suspected of jumping from the Merangin Bridge in Merangin Village, Kuok District, Kampar Regency, Riau.
Head of the Pekanbaru Class A Search and Rescue Office, Budi Cahyadi, said the search began with a briefing at 07:00 WIB, followed by sweeping around the incident site up to approximately 4 kilometres downstream along the Kampar River in accordance with the operation plan (Ren Ops H2).
“The search operation involves personnel from the Pekanbaru Class A Search and Rescue Office together with joint SAR elements using river surface sweeping methods in designated sectors,” said Budi on Wednesday (5/8).
He explained that all personnel prioritised occupational safety aspects and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the operation.
“The victim is known as BG, 25, a resident of Maredan Village, Tualang District, Siak Regency,” he said.
He revealed that by the end of the second day of searching, the victim had still not been found.
“The joint SAR team will continue search efforts according to the operation plan with the hope that the victim can be found soon,” he concluded.
