Seaport police confiscate Ferraris

JAKARTA (JP): Tanjung Priok Seaport (KP3) Police in North Jakarta confiscated three Italian made Ferraris from a warehouse at the port on Thursday morning, KP3 Police chief said on Thursday.

"When we investigated this case, we found that the cars were meant to delivered to a very important official here. I'm sorry, I can't give you the name," Col. Edward Aritonang said.

"We received news from surrounding residents that they had seen the cars there. We did not believe it, but as police officers, it was our job to check it out."

"We did. We also confirmed with the port's customs, and, sure enough, we found the cars."

Edward said that police were still looking into the matter, while refusing to elaborate on the name or the location of the warehouse in which the cars were found.

The confiscation of imported luxury cars was the first of its kind this year. The illegal import of luxury cars was rampant in the 1970s. (ylt)
