JAKARTA: PT Southeast Asia Pipe Industries (SEAPI), a subsidiary of PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk., shipped on Tuesday 3,200 tons of steel pipes to Iran, marking its first export to the country.

The exported steel pipes are of the API5LX60 type, measuring 26 inches and 30 inches in diameter, the company said in a statement.

The Lampung-based company launched the export during a ceremony at Bakauheni Port in Lampung, which was attended by the director general of basic metal, machinery industries, electronics and multi-various industries at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Achdia Atmawinata.

The company said it had also won the international tender for supplying 31,400 tons of steel pipes for the development of the Sumatra-Singapore underwater pipeline owned by state-owned gas distribution and transmission company PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN).
