Sealed: Padel Court in East Jakarta Operating Under Boarding House Permit Faces Demolition
A padel court in East Jakarta has been sealed for operating under an unauthorised boarding house permit. The Jakarta Provincial Government has threatened permanent closure and demolition of padel court facilities found to be misusing permits.
“It will be permanently closed and the building will be demolished,” said Jakarta Governor’s Special Staff Chico Hakim to reporters on Friday (13 March 2026).
The provincial government continues to enforce regulations against padel courts that do not comply with licensing requirements. However, Chico stated he was not yet fully briefed on the exact number of padel courts that have been sealed or permanently closed.
“I have not yet received an update on the exact numbers,” Chico said.
The East Jakarta City Government has taken firm action by sealing several padel courts that do not comply with regulations. One padel facility was sealed specifically for using a boarding house permit.
The padel court sealed for operating under an incorrect business licence is located in Kebon Pala Village, Makasar District. The facility at Jalan Kolonel Sutomo 1 Number 22 previously held a boarding house permit issued in 2018. However, the building has since been converted to operate as a padel court.
This building represents the eighth facility sealed in East Jakarta as part of the enforcement drive against padel courts operating without proper licensing. A permanent seal was also placed on a padel court in the Pulomas area, Kayu Putih Village, Pulogadung District, East Jakarta.
