Sea Passenger Traffic Increases During Eid Holiday; PELNI Ensures Optimal Operations and Safety
PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) ensured the smooth operation of the 1447 Hijri Eid holiday transport service through direct operational inspections of vessels at KM Dobonsolo, Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
The monitoring activity was conducted by PELNI Chief Executive Officer Tri Andayani alongside PELNI’s board of directors, Deputy Head of Human Resources and Sustainability at BP BUMN Wahyu Setyawan, and Director of Port Affairs at the Directorate General of Maritime Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation Muhammad Anto Julianto.
“This Eid holiday transport monitoring aims to ensure all aspects of vessel operations run optimally, particularly maritime safety, passenger comfort, and the quality of services prepared by PELNI,” Andayani said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026.
Together with BP BUMN and the Ministry of Transportation, Andayani conducted direct inspections of the economy class deck and interacted with several passengers and crew members. She conveyed that this monitoring represented close collaboration between PELNI, BP BUMN, and the Ministry of Transportation in ensuring safe and comfortable holiday travel with PELNI.
“We are grateful to BP BUMN and the Ministry of Transportation who have been present with us to directly monitor the readiness of KM Dobonsolo as one of PELNI’s Eid holiday transport vessels,” Andayani said.
She ensured that all safety, comfort, and service facilities across PELNI’s entire fleet operate according to the highest standards. Andayani stated that safety is the top priority and PELNI is committed to providing wholehearted service to all holiday travellers.
She explained that during this holiday travel period, PELNI had sold 249,601 tickets as of 13 March 2026 for departures between 6–22 March 2026. This figure demonstrates considerable public enthusiasm for PELNI’s passenger ship services, including the Jakarta-Surabaya route using KM Dobonsolo.
“On this voyage, KM Dobonsolo is carrying 1,495 passengers from Tanjung Priok to Tanjung Perak. This vessel is one of our 3-in-1 passenger ships capable of transporting passengers, containers, and vehicle cargo simultaneously,” Andayani added.
She also reminded passengers to always comply with safety protocols aboard the ship, maintain cleanliness, and follow crew directives during the journey. She also urged all prospective passengers to book tickets well in advance through official channels to avoid long queues at the port.
“We also ensure that every PELNI ship and crew member is ready to serve the public wholeheartedly,” she continued.
Through strict monitoring conducted directly by BP BUMN, the Ministry of Transportation, and PELNI at KM Dobonsolo, this demonstrated full commitment to maintaining the highest safety and service standards during the 1447 Hijri Eid holiday transport period. PELNI continues to strengthen coordination with port authorities in ensuring passenger capacity remains compliant with regulations whilst prioritising maritime safety.
“KM Dobonsolo is one of PELNI’s 3-in-1 vessels capable of transporting up to 2,000 passengers and able to carry a maximum of 60 small vehicles and containers up to 55 TEUs, with routes covering Tanjung Priok–Surabaya–Makassar–Bau-Bau–Ambon–Banda–Tual–Dobo–Kaimana–Fakfak–Ambon–Namlea–Bau-Bau–Makassar–Surabaya–Tanjung Priok,” she said.
