Sea Gate to enter Medan

JAKARTA (JP): Giant American electronic and computer components maker Sea Gate will open a plant in Medan, North Sumatra.

Reny Aritonang, the agent who will supply the plant's 10,000 workers, said Friday in Medan the plant would occupy 30 hectares of the Medan industrial estate.

Sea Gate president director William Schunn will visit Governor Raja Inal Siregar this month to explain details of his company's investment plan.

"The plant will be the first in Indonesia to produce computer components, " she was quoted by Antara as saying after visiting the governor.

The company wanted to open a plant in Medan after the good performance of the 3,000 Indonesian workers at its plant in Penang, Malaysia, she said.
