SEA Games sticker continues
JAKARTA (JP): The municipality will continue SEA Games sticker sales next month only for people who apply for car licenses, Deputy Governor of Social Welfare R.S. Museno said on Tuesday.
"The sticker sales is based only on a decree issued July 1 by the minister of social services," Museno said. The stickers will be sold at Rp 5,000 (US$1.92) each.
The ministry extended the sticker sales for four months. The decision was made after the consortium assured better control and management of sticker sales.
However, sticker sales at municipality offices and agencies should be authorized by a gubernatorial decree.
Governor Surjadi Soedirdja told Jakartans in May to refuse to buy the stickers for the Southeast Asian Games because his decree expired May 26.
Under the gubernatorial decree, the stickers were sold at 12 city agencies: land transportation, development supervision, city planning, mining, public order, tourism and land.
Stickers were also sold by PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol, which is partially owned by the city, the Ministry of Industry and Trade city-branch office and the Indonesian Retail Business Association. (ste)
