SEA Games donation
SEA Games donation
From Bisnis Indonesia
Through its letter dated June 25, 1997, PT Telkomsel informed customers that a Rp 2,500 donation to the 19th SEA Games would be added to monthly telephone bills issued from April through October, 1997.
But the company again included the same amount for SEA Games contribution in the December 1997 bill. The customer service section explained that the donation would continue to be collected until January 1998.
The government has received a lot of money from the public, via Telkomsel, cinemas, electricity and water bills, Telkom, hotels, etc.
I wonder whether the funds are really allocated to the SEA Games? How could the government suffer a budget deficit for the games? This indicates that the government is incapable of planning a long-term project.
An event of such magnitude should be carefully planned so that society is spared from the responsibility of shouldering the burden.
