PHILIPPINES: Southeast Asian police chiefs will meet in Manila next month to discuss antiterrorism cooperation, officials said on Monday.
Association of Southeast Asian Nations police officials will discuss how to strengthen the region's war on terrorism and cross-border crime during the Sept. 8 through Sept. 11 meeting, Philippine police chief Hermogenes Ebdane said.
ASEAN police officials will also discuss how they can intensify cooperation with countries like Australia and New Zealand, Ebdane said.
Philippine police intelligence director Arturo Lomibao said the July 14 escape of Fathur Rohman Al-Ghozi, a suspected bomb expert for the extremist group Jamaah Islamiyah, would be discussed. --AP
