SE Asian currencies flat
SINGAPORE (Dow Jones): The Singapore dollar was flat against
the U.S. dollar early Thursday in Southeast Asian currency
markets. Domestic markets elsewhere in the region, in Thailand,
Indonesia and the Philippines, were closed for holidays ahead of
the New Year.
Singapore-based brokers report minimal volumes in any of the
regional currencies.
At 0120 GMT (8:20 p.m. Wednesday EST) the U.S. dollar was
quoted at S$1.6592, compared with S$1.6586 late Wednesday.
Singapore-based brokers also quoted the dollar at 36.70 Thai
baht, compared with 36.6350 late the previous day.
Against the Indonesian rupiah, the dollar was quoted at 8,000,
compared with 8,100 late Wednesday.
