SDN Srengseng Sawah Bomb Threat Suspect Claims 'Prank', Allegedly Trapped by Online Loans
A man with the initials MY (34), the suspect behind a bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, is known to be unemployed and trapped in debt from online loans (pinjol), cooperatives, and loan sharks. This situation led to the perpetrator frequently being visited by debt collectors, according to the head of the local neighbourhood association, Anton Sianipar.
‘There was a report to JAKI regarding the prevalence of online loans in my neighbourhood. So, the sub-district reprimanded me to eradicate it. Well, after this incident, we traced it and it turned out that the person who made the JAKI report about online loans was him. Because he was heavily trapped by online loans,’ said Anton Sianipar, the head of RT 03/RW 04, when met in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/7/2026).
Anton admitted he did not know the exact total amount of the online loan debt that MY had to pay. However, residents were worried because debt collectors frequently visited the area. Moreover, as the head of the RT, Anton was also concerned that the environment would be disrupted, considering the perpetrator also had debts from cooperatives and loan sharks. ‘As the head of the RT, I monitor the daily lives of my residents. What I know is that he had financial problems,’ he said.
Furthermore, Anton added that MY did not have a permanent job, so he had no income to provide for his family. ‘The perpetrator does not have a permanent job, he only occasionally helps his parents with their air conditioning service business. Sometimes he helps his parents service and clean AC units,’ he said.
The police have named MY as a suspect in the bomb threat case that occurred on the first day of the School Environment Introduction Period at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi on Monday (13/7/2026). He has been charged under Article 601 of the Criminal Code regarding terror threats.
Based on the preliminary investigation, MY carried out the act because he was ‘iseng’ (pranking), but this is still being investigated further. MY had also previously sent a similar threatening message to the head of his neighbourhood association. However, at that time, the head of the RT immediately invited MY to communicate.
Previously, the police revealed that the bomb threat at SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, on Monday (13/7/2026), originated from a private message via WhatsApp received by a teacher during the flag ceremony on the first day of the School Environment Introduction Period. The message was received by a first-grade teacher and a school administrative staff member. They then reported it to the police and immediately checked the scene. The content of the WhatsApp message threatened to detonate bombs at 11 points in the school and warned the school not to report it to the police.
