SDN Kebayoran Lama Damaged for Nearly Two Years, Pramono: A Hard Slap for Me

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has admitted he only recently learned of the condition of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09, which has been damaged and left unrepaired for nearly two years. He described the situation as a hard slap in the face for him personally, prompting swift action from the Jakarta Provincial Government to immediately rebuild the school. “What is clear for Jakarta, especially for me personally, is that education in such a state truly slaps me in the face,” Pramono said in North Jakarta on Thursday (23/7). Pramono stated that the issue of rebuilding SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 had been discussed in a meeting with the Jakarta Provincial Government leadership. He also confirmed he would directly inspect the school’s condition on Friday (24/7) before making a final decision regarding the acceleration of construction. “But we will carry out repairs immediately. We held a meeting yesterday, we are meeting today to decide, and tomorrow I will conduct a field visit,” he said. According to Pramono, the damage to SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 is now a serious concern for the Jakarta Provincial Government. Although he was previously unaware of the condition, he immediately instructed his staff to prepare acceleration measures so that students can promptly receive proper learning facilities. “The essence for me is education. Education, health, and social affairs are the most fundamental things that must be improved in Jakarta,” he stressed. Pramono also assured that the school’s construction would not be hampered by issues with the regional budget (APBD) or the revised regional budget. The Jakarta Provincial Government has prepared several alternative financing schemes, including utilising building floor coefficient (KLB) funds, so the project can commence immediately. “We can use available funds, one of which is KLB and others. The point is, today this afternoon I will immediately decide when this construction will begin,” he concluded.
