A fire broke out on Sunday, 24 May 2026 in the early morning hours. According to one resident, Saiman, the fire was first observed originating from a scrap metal collection yard at approximately 03:30 (WIB, Western Indonesian Time). Within a short period, the flames rapidly spread to other buildings in the vicinity.

“The fire started from the scrap metal yard, around half past three in the morning. It spread quickly,” Saiman said, as reported by Antara.

According to Saiman, several residential homes located behind the scrap yards were also completely destroyed by the fire.

“There were homes in the back area, but I don’t know how many,” he stated.

The fire spread rapidly due to the abundance of combustible materials present at the scrap yards. The blaze consumed approximately 20 scrap metal collection stalls and even spread to several residential homes near the yard area.

Residents worked alongside firefighters to extinguish the continuously burning flames. However, the large quantity of flammable materials hindered the fire suppression efforts.

At present, firefighting operations remain ongoing. A total of 12 fire trucks have been deployed to the location to control the blaze.

There have been no reports of casualties or total losses as a result of the incident. Additionally, the precise cause of the fire remains unknown.
