Scouts launch anti-trafficking drive

INDRAMAYU, West Java: The Scout Movement in Indramayu began a four-day gathering on Thursday that will serve to kick off a campaign to fight human trafficking in the regency.

About 1,000 junior high school and high school students are taking part in the gathering, which will feature an exhibition on human trafficking, a workshop to develop slogans and messages for the upcoming campaign in schools and communities, and the presentation of a documentary about trafficking.

Indramayu Regent Irianto Syaifuddin officially opened the gathering, telling the participants that they could take the lead in ending the "intolerable practice" of human trafficking. -- JP
