Scout leader arrested for raping a 16-year-old SMK student in Bekasi three times
Bekasi Metropolitan Police arrested a man identified as MA (25) on suspicion of raping a female student of a vocational high school in Cikarang Utara, Bekasi Regency, West Java. MA has been named as a suspect. The case came to light after a report from the victim’s father to the police. MA is a scout extracurricular supervisor, while the victim, who was in grade X, is 16 years old. According to the statement from the reporting party, the father of the victim, MA invited his daughter to meet. However, MA instead took the victim to a hotel. The first incident is believed to have occurred on 16 December 2025 at a hotel in Karangbahagia, Cikarang Utara. “The incident began when the perpetrator invited the victim to walk around the Cikarang area. During the journey, the perpetrator took the victim to a hotel under the pretense of resting,” he said. The perpetrator MA carried out a similar act on 21 December 2025 at another hotel in the Jababeka area, Cikarang Utara. The third rape occurred in January 2026. “According to statements obtained by investigators, while in the hotel room, the perpetrator allegedly used coercion to have sexual intercourse with the victim. From preliminary investigations, the acts are suspected to have occurred three times from December 2025 to January 2026,” he explained. The case was reported by the victim’s parents with report number STTLPAB/307/II/2026/SPKT/Polres Metro Bekasi/Polda Metro Jaya dated 17 February 2026. After receiving the report, investigators from the Bekasi Metro Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a series of inquiries and investigations. Police questioned several witnesses, gathered evidence, and checked the locations of the incidents at both hotels. On 2 February 2026, investigators summoned the suspect for questioning as a witness. During interrogations, investigators found sufficient evidence, prompting an official meeting (gelar perkara) and the designation of MA (25) as a suspect, who is known to be a scout leader at the victim’s school, he said. The suspect was immediately arrested and detained at the Bekasi Metro Police for further legal processing. During the investigation, police also secured documents including clothing worn by the victim and hotel check-in data to strengthen the case. In addition, investigators obtained the results of the medical examination (visum et repertum), testimonies from witnesses, and statements from the suspect. Investigators are coordinating with related parties to provide support for the victim. “Investigators will also conduct psychological assessments and social worker evaluations of the victim and seize CCTV footage from the hotel locations to complete the evidentiary process,” the police explained. For his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 473 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 81(2) of Law No. 17 of 2016 on Child Protection. Bekasi Metro Police emphasised its commitment to protecting children and to taking strong action against all forms of violence and sexual crimes against children. “The public is also urged to actively report if they know of similar criminal acts so that law enforcement can act promptly,” they urged.
