Scout Film Set for Release, Bringing Family Adventure Steeped in Character Values
The Scout Movement, long associated with camping, marching drills, and brown uniforms at school, is now being transformed for the big screen. Alamanda Pictures, together with the National Scout Movement (Kwarnas), has officially launched the film ‘Pramuka’, a family adventure film that promotes values of courage, leadership, mutual cooperation, and compassion as part of an effort to strengthen character education for Indonesia’s young generation through cinema. “This film introduces the true face of the Scout Movement, that Scouting is not merely about camping or wearing a uniform, but an educational process that builds character, leadership, life skills, social awareness, and love for the homeland and service to the nation and state,” said Chairman of Kwarnas Gerakan Pramuka, Budi Waseso, on Monday (20/7). According to Budi Waseso, amidst the rapid development of digital technology, film is an effective medium for instilling positive values in the younger generation. Through the power of story and visuals, cinema can inspire while building national character in a way that is closer to the lives of children and families. “The Pramuka film is a step we should all support as part of the effort to strengthen national character education through creative media. We hope this film will not only be entertaining viewing but also an inspiring guide,” he said. Meanwhile, Producer of Alamanda Pictures, Amanda Latief, stated that the Pramuka film was born from a desire to present Indonesian family entertainment that not only offers adventure and action but also conveys a message about the importance of courage, friendship, discipline, and care for others. “We believe a film can be a fun learning medium. Through the adventure story of Scout children, we want to show that Scouting values are relevant life skills for facing various challenges in the real world,” said Amanda. The film ‘Pramuka’ tells the story of Panji (12) and his friends on a Penggalang camping trip that turns into a challenging adventure. When they get lost in the forest, Panji and his friends accidentally discover the hideout of a child kidnapping syndicate. Armed with Scouting skills, ingenuity, courage, and a spirit of teamwork, they fight to rescue Panji’s kidnapped younger sibling while freeing other child victims. Through a story full of action and suspense, the film emphasises that the Scouting spirit is not only learned at camp but becomes a real asset in facing life’s problems. The values of the Scout Law, such as leadership, discipline, responsibility, mutual cooperation, and social awareness, form the thread that drives the entire journey of the characters.
