High-profile Scottish mafia boss Steven Lyons has finally been expelled, or deported, from Bali. Steven is an Interpol fugitive involved in numerous transnational crimes, including narcotics, money laundering, and murder in Spain.

The deportation process was carried out by the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office together with the Secretariat of the National Central Bureau (NCB) Interpol Indonesia. Lyons himself was previously arrested upon landing at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, on 28 March.

“This deportation is a concrete step in our commitment to safeguarding the sovereignty of the state,” said the Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, in his statement on Wednesday (8/4/2026).

Lyons was repatriated through Ngurah Rai Airport using Citilink airline with flight number QG689 on the Denpasar-Jakarta route. The mafia boss’s journey was then continued with Garuda Indonesia flight GA088 on the Jakarta-Amsterdam route.

“We will not allow Indonesian territory, especially Bali, to become a hideout or operational base for international criminals. Strict immigration oversight is the frontline defence in maintaining national security from potential foreign threats,” Bugie added.

It is known that Lyons has been a target of Spanish authorities since the 2024 murder case. His name then entered the Interpol Red Notice Number A-4908/3-2026, issued on 26 March 2026.

Lyons was arrested in Bali after the NCB Interpol Indonesia from NCB Abu Dhabi received information regarding Lyons’s movements towards Indonesia. Upon receiving the information, a joint team from the Polri International Air Transport Division, Bali Regional Police, Ngurah Rai Airport Police Resort, and Ngurah Rai Immigration immediately stood ready in the arrival area.

Lyons arrived in Bali at 11:58 WITA on Saturday (28/3) after flying from Singapore with flight number SQ-938 on the Singapore-Denpasar route. As soon as he landed in Bali, the apparatus immediately moved and secured the fugitive leader of the transnational criminal organisation.
