Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Volatile weather patterns are occurring across Indonesian regions during the period of 12-15 March 2026. In several areas, BMKG recorded rainfall with heavy intensity. For example in Central Sulawesi, Aceh, North Sumatra, South Papua, North Kalimantan, and East Java.

However, during the same period, several other areas are experiencing scorching weather. For instance in East Java where temperatures reached 35 degrees Celsius. Subsequently West Java at 37.2 degrees Celsius, Kalimantan at 36.4 degrees Celsius, and Banten at 36.2 degrees Celsius.

On its official page, BMKG stated that the “scorching heat” conditions occur alongside rainfall distribution that tends to shift towards eastern Indonesian regions, causing several other areas to experience reduced cloud cover and more optimal reception of solar radiation.

This is marked by positive OLR anomalies indicating relatively minimal cloud growth. Additionally, the sun’s apparent annual movement closer to the equatorial region also contributes to increased surface warming, such that during daytime conditions feel more intense in several regions.

Over the coming week, BMKG noted that several Indonesian regions will still experience rainfall with varying intensities, as detailed below, cited from BMKG’s official page, Tuesday (17/3/2026):
