Schroders Indonesia Acquisition Complete, MAMI Expands Market Reach
PT Manulife Aset Manajemen Indonesia (MAMI) has completed its strategic expansion by acquiring PT Schroder Investment Management Indonesia. This transaction marks a new chapter in strengthening MAMI’s position as a major player in Indonesia’s investment management industry.
Manulife Wealth & Asset Management stated that the entire acquisition process has been finalised after meeting various requirements, including approval from the Financial Services Authority (OJK). With the transaction complete, the integration between MAMI and Schroders Indonesia will be carried out gradually.
During the transition period, both entities will continue to operate in parallel. The company assures that clients and partners will receive ongoing updates on changes to branding, products, and operations.
Chief Executive Officer of Wealth and Asset Management Asia at Manulife, Fabio Fontainha, said this step is part of the company’s long-term strategy in Indonesia. “We are proud to mark the official joining of Schroders Indonesia to Manulife Wealth & Asset Management,” Fabio stated in a written release quoted on Thursday, 3 March 2026.
He added that the acquisition will strengthen the business scale while enhancing the company’s innovation capacity. “The completion of this acquisition reflects our long-term commitment to Indonesia and further strengthens MAMI’s position as the largest investment manager in Indonesia,” he said.
By combining these two major investment managers, Manulife aims to improve its capabilities in delivering more diverse investment solutions backed by global insights.
From a domestic perspective, CEO & President Director of MAMI, Afifa, described the acquisition as a key milestone in the company’s journey as it enters its 30th year. “This is an important moment for both organisations,” Afifa said.
She stated that this step is not just a transaction but a new foundation for expanding business impact. “Combining the talents and expertise of MAMI and Schroders Indonesia enhances our ability to deliver high-quality investment solutions,” she added.
Meanwhile, CEO & President Director of Schroders Indonesia, Michael T. Tjoajadi, views the acquisition as an opportunity to expand business access and capabilities. “Joining MAMI is the next important chapter,” Michael said.
He assured that the company’s values and culture will be preserved amid the integration. With the acquisition complete, MAMI not only reinforces its position as Indonesia’s largest investment manager but also expands its distribution base and client network, both institutional and retail.
Based on data as of December 2025, MAMI recorded total assets under management (AUM) of Rp124.3 trillion, with a market share of 11.9 per cent. Meanwhile, mutual fund assets under management reached Rp63 trillion, making it the market leader in that industry.
On the other hand, Schroders as a global group manages assets of £823.7 billion, equivalent to more than USD1,100 billion as of the end of 2025. This global scale provides significant added value in strengthening the combined investment platform in Indonesia.
Looking ahead, this integration is expected to create strong synergies through the combination of investment resources, distribution networks, and product innovation. With an increasingly aggressive expansion strategy, MAMI positions itself to capture growth opportunities in Indonesia’s expanding asset management industry.
