Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has confirmed that teaching and learning at schools will continue as usual, despite demonstrations planned at several locations across the capital today. The Jakarta administration has not introduced a distance-learning policy.

“There will be no distance learning today, so students should attend as usual,” Pramono said at Jakarta City Hall on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

Pramono said that expressing opinions is a citizens’ right. However, he hopes the demonstrations will be orderly and will not disrupt people’s activities.

“Jakarta belongs to all of us, so we must all look after it. Demonstrations are a democratic right,” he said.

“But as Governor of Jakarta, I sincerely hope that demonstrations, whether today or in the future, can be held properly and peacefully, without disturbing the public’s comfort,” he added.

The demonstrations are scheduled to begin at 12 noon Western Indonesia Time (WIB). Planned locations include the Bundaran HI and Tugu Tani areas, as well as the area around the House of Representatives and People’s Consultative Assembly complex.

The Jakarta Transportation Agency has prepared traffic-management measures and deployed 510 personnel to help regulate vehicle flows around the protest sites.

Road users have been advised to avoid the demonstration areas and adjust their routes. Public transport services, including Transjakarta, the Jakarta MRT and the Jakarta LRT, will continue to operate normally. Transjakarta services may be adjusted if traffic is diverted.
