Schoolgirls robbed in public minivan

JAKARTA: Two women, two elementary school girls and two junior high school girls were robbed on Tuesday afternoon in Tangerang by two men on a public minivan plying the Ciputat to Bumi Serpong Damai route.

One of the victims, Elisa Dayu Noviri, 12, said that she was returning home from school at 2 p.m. when two men got into the minivan at a gas station in Kampung Sawah, Tangerang.

After a few moments, the two robbers ordered the passengers to hand over all their belongings, including the girls' school bags.

When Elisa tried to keep her school bag, one of the robbers pointed a knife at her neck.

After taking jewelry, wallets and bags from all the passengers, the robbers got off the minivan. They also took all the driver's money.

Witnesses said that the robbers were well-built, one of whom wore jeans while another wore an orange T-shirt and trousers.

The incident is being investigated by Ciputat Police. -- JP
