Schoolgirl commits suicide

JAKARTA (JP): A 16-year-old high schoolgirl died on the way to hospital after being found unconscious in her bedroom with blood and foam oozing from her mouth yesterday morning.

Siska Anggraeni committed suicide after her father asked her the previous evening to break off her relationship with her boyfriend, her stepmother Sri Rahayu said.

Sri said Siska -- a second year student at SMEA Al-Khairiyah high school -- drank insecticide to end her life.

Sri said she was found unconscious at 7 a.m. with an insecticide can near her bed.

The family lives on Jl. Mawar Dalam in North Jakarta.

Her mother said that she tried to administer first aid to rouse her daughter before taking her to the nearby Tugu hospital.

"Siska died on the way to the hospital and doctors at the hospital also confirmed the smell of insecticide coming from the body," said Sri.

Siska, the eldest of four sisters, was an introvert, her mother said.

She said: "We didn't know what happened to her because she always looked all right at home.

"I only heard she had a boyfriend but she never introduced him to us and the night before, her father told her to end their relationship."

Siska did not respond to her father's order, she said.

Police questioned the couple at the Tugu hospital before they had a chance to report the case.

The corpse was sent to the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital for an autopsy, ordered by the police.

It will then be released to the family.

"But we don't have enough money to pay Rp 250,000 (US$94.30) for the autopsy," said Sri at the Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital.

"If the police need the post-mortem report then they should pay for it," she said. (04)
