School to plant 250 trees

JAKARTA (JP): A high school plans to plant some 250 trees in its 4,000-square-meter compound to improve the students' environmental awareness.

The project, launched on Friday, involves at least 50 students of the school located on Jl. Margasatwa Raya, Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, under the sponsorship of the Association for the Care of Indonesian Children and the city administration.

The program will support the science club and activities at the school, said Setiadi Wahyantoro, the school deputy principal. It is also expected to boost students' creativity and encourage them to maintain the green areas at the school and in their neighborhoods.

He expressed hope that other schools would do the same. (07)
