School start times delayed in Palangka Raya due to haze

Students attend teaching and learning activities at SD Negeri 4 Menteng, Palangka Raya, Central Kalimantan, on Friday (21/8/2026). The Palangka Raya City Education Office has implemented a policy for primary and junior secondary school students to delay the start of lessons until 08:00 WIB, temporarily suspend outdoor activities, require the wearing of masks, and implement distance learning for Early Childhood Education (PAUD) due to haze from forest and land fires that has caused a decline in air quality.
