School principal 'raped' pupil

CIREBON, West Java: The 50-year-old principal of Jatianom elementary school in Cirebon will go on trial this month for allegedly raping a 13-year-old student in May after telling her it was a prerequisite for her to pass her final examination.

Police detained the principal a few days after the incident after the victim told her mother about it.

The victim's mother, Kasrini, 26, said that since reporting the case she has been harrased and two men offered her Rp 5 million (US$360) and Rp 6 million if she would drop the charges.

Antara reported that due to the psychological burden, the victim did not pass her final examination.
