Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The government is again providing transport fare discounts during the 2026 school holiday period and the 2026/2027 Christmas and New Year holidays. Tickets for trains, ships, and aeroplanes will be discounted by up to 30%.

Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the policy is a form of the government’s commitment to providing transport services. The aim is to ease the public’s travel costs and encourage the movement of people and economic activity during the holiday period.

“We are announcing a transport stimulus programme during the school holidays and the Christmas and New Year period,” Dudy said when announcing the Semester II 2026 Economic Stimulus at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs office in Jakarta, Monday (22/6/2026).

For the school holiday period, a 30% transport fare incentive will be applied to train tickets from 20 June 2026 to 5 July 2026. A 30% discount on the base fare will also be given for Pelni ships from 20 June 2026 to 15 August 2026. Additionally, ASDP port service fees will be waived from 20 June 2026 to 5 July 2026.

“The total budget allocation is Rp190.5 billion with a baseline target of 3 million passengers. This is in addition to a 100% Government-borne VAT (DTP) subsidy for scheduled domestic economy class flights from 24 June to 5 July 2026, with a budget of Rp472.5 billion for 2.3 million passengers,” he stated.

For the Christmas and New Year period, a 30% incentive and discount will be provided for train tickets from 22 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, a 30% discount on the base fare for Pelni ships from 17 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and free ASDP port services from 22 December 2026 to 10 January 2027.

The total budget allocation is Rp161.4 billion with a baseline target of 2.8 million passengers. This is in addition to a 100% Government-borne VAT subsidy for domestic economy class flight tickets, with a budget of Rp722 billion for 3.7 million passengers.

“The total budget for these two periods is Rp1.54 trillion,” he said.
