School Holds 17 km Lari Lintas Juang to Foster Leadership and Struggle Spirit in Young Generation
To commemorate the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s independence, SMA Labschool Jakarta held the Lari Lintas Juang (Lalinju), a 17-kilometre run, on Monday (17/8). The activity, which embodies the spirit of struggle and leadership of the younger generation, followed a route from the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP) to SMA Labschool Jakarta and was participated in by OSIS and MPK members from all SMA Labschool schools.
The event was attended by the Rector of Jakarta State University (UNJ), Komaruddin, Labschool Adviser Arief Rachman, and the leadership of SMA Labschool. Lalinju marked the culmination of a long series of leadership development activities for OSIS and MPK that had been carried out previously.
The series of activities began with leadership assessments, preparation of proposals, essays and motivation letters, proposal hearings, physical tests, training at the 328 Para Raider Infantry Battalion in Kostrad Cilodong, the election of the OSIS chairperson, and physical training preparations ahead of Lalinju. Each stage was designed to shape participants’ character so that they possess resilience, responsibility, the ability to work together, and readiness to become leaders in the school environment and society.
UNJ Rector Prof. Dr. Komaruddin said that Lari Lintas Juang is not only an activity to celebrate Independence Day but also a means to foster leadership spirit in students. “The Lari Lintas Juang activity is one way to celebrate Independence Day while fostering leadership spirit in students. Through this activity, students learn about courage, responsibility, cooperation, and perseverance. These values are expected to become part of the character of Labschool students, not only when participating in activities but also in daily life. From Labschool for Indonesia and the World,” Komaruddin explained.
The spirit of struggle is also an important part of the implementation of Lalinju. Labschool Adviser Arief Rachman assessed that the activity is a momentum for students to understand that struggle is not only interpreted through physical endurance but also through strength of character. “Strength in Lari Lintas Juang is not merely about physical endurance; it also reflects the fighting spirit of the heroes in fighting for independence. Through this activity, we learn to emulate courage, persistence, and perseverance in facing every challenge,” said Arief Rachman.
Meanwhile, the Head of SMA Labschool Jakarta, Badru Zaman, emphasised the importance of the role of the younger generation in continuing the struggle and filling independence through positive contributions. “The Labschool spirit is the spirit of youth that we must continue to maintain, because our children are the next generation of the nation’s ideals. Let us fill independence with works, achievements, and noble character, and grow into young people who are able to benefit the nation and the world,” Badru stressed.
For the participants, Lalinju became an experience that not only tested physical endurance but also provided space to reflect on the long process they had undergone during the LK & LRP series. The Chairperson of the SMA Labschool Jakarta OSIS for the 2026–2027 period, Muhammad Fakhri Lesmana, said that the Lalinju journey is part of the leadership formation process that will be undertaken together. “For me, Lari Lintas Juang is not only about completing a 17-kilometre journey, but also about how we learn to be responsible, work together, and keep moving forward when facing challenges. The process we have undergone since the beginning of LK & LRP has made us understand that being a leader requires resilience and commitment,” he asserted.
A similar sentiment was expressed by the Chairperson of the SMA Labschool Jakarta MPK for the 2026–2027 period, Amara Kinaya Saraswati. According to her, the spirit of struggle gained during Lalinju is expected not to stop after the activity ends. “Lalinju taught us that the spirit of struggle is not only about being physically strong, but also about how we endure, support each other, and complete shared responsibilities. It is hoped that these values can be applied in daily life, both as OSIS and MPK officers and as students,” Amara hoped.
The implementation of Lari Lintas Juang marked the end of the LK & LRP development series as well as the beginning for the elected OSIS and MPK officers to carry out their leadership responsibilities. The Independence Day momentum serves as a reminder that the struggle of the younger generation does not stop at remembering history, but is realised through character, works, achievements, and real contributions to the surrounding environment.
Through Lalinju, SMA Labschool Jakarta continues to instil the values of leadership, courage, responsibility, cooperation, persistence, and perseverance as part of the character of the younger generation. The spirit of struggle that begins step by step is expected to continue to grow into real steps to provide benefits from Labschool for Indonesia and the world.
