School Children's 2026 Eid Holiday: Official Dates Announced
The joint decree from three ministers regarding national holidays and collective leave for 2026 stipulates that the Eid al-Fitr holiday in 2026 will fall in March. School children will begin their Eid holiday in the third week of the month. The 2026 Eid holiday for school children will run from 16 March to 27 March. This was announced by the Ministry of Education and Culture through a joint circular from the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia, the Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, numbered 5 of 2026, 2 of 2026, and 400.1/857/SJ, concerning learning during the month of Ramadan in 1447 Hijri/2026 AD. “On 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 March 2026, as well as on 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 March 2026, there will be a collective Eid al-Fitr holiday for schools/madrasahs/early childhood education units/religious education units. During the Eid al-Fitr holiday, students are expected to strengthen family ties and community relations to enhance brotherhood and unity,” reads the fourth point in the circular. Still quoting the circular from the Ministry of Education and Culture, the 2026 Eid holiday for school children will last until Friday, 27 March 2026, followed by the weekend. Children will return to school on Monday, 30 March 2026. How many days will the 2026 Eid collective leave be? The 2026 Eid collective leave will be for three days.
