School Buses to Become Public Transport in Bogor

BOGOR, KOMPAS.com - The Bogor City Government is reportedly conducting a study on utilising school buses to serve as feeder transport on Corridors 3 and 4 in Bogor City. Since their launch in 2019 until now, the operation of school buses has not been optimal in the Rainy City. Students in Bogor still rely on public transportation to go to and from school. “We are studying it, whether it will be managed by the Transportation Department or by Perumda Transportasi Pakuan. This will become a feeder for Corridors 3 and 4,” said Bogor Mayor Dedie A. Rachim, quoted from an official statement, Thursday (31/3/2026). Dedie explained that the current condition of the buses is good and roadworthy. This step is claimed to be a breakthrough amid a cut in the Regional Transfer Funds (TKD) of Rp 300 billion. “Of course, there must be an innovative utilisation for the buses that have not been optimally operated so far, especially so that people who have not been adequately served by transportation can be accommodated. We are trying to utilise them for Corridors 3 and 4. This is still under study, as we assess the condition of the units,” he said. “Because of the TKD cut of Rp 300 billion, there is certainly a missing financing component. It is no longer possible for us to maintain them from TKD, so we must think about it. If left idle, they will just deteriorate. This is not a loss, but rather can be utilised for the benefit of the community,” he said.
