It is saddening to see an elementary school with a tilted roof, broken windows, dirty walls and an inadequate playground. It looks more like a warehouse than a school.

This school is in Sukanegara village in Bogor, West Java. I believe there are many other elementary schools which are in equally poor condition.

I was wondering how our children can learn in such a poor building. Elementary education is the foundation on which we develop potential human resources. At least this is often spouted by officials in their speeches. What we can really expect from such a poor school is suffering not quality human resources. I hope the local administration will show greater concern for the ramshackle schools.
