School accused of misusing facilities

BOGOR: Hundreds of parents of students of Islamic elementary school Al Azhar 27 staged a protest on Tuesday directed at the school management for using the school building to accommodate students of Al Madina junior high and high school.

Tuesday's protest followed a similar protest on Monday, the first day of new academic year. Protesting parents kept their children at home.

The parents have reported Ar Rohman Education Foundation chairman Agus Sriyanta, who manages the school, to the Bogor Police for misusing the school development fees for constructing buildings that are currently being used by students of Al Madina in the Al Azhar compound.

Al Azhar Islamic Foundation chairman Mahfudh Makmun had ordered Agus Sriyanta to end the agreement allowing Al Madina to use the Al Azhar school compound.

The Ar Rohman Foundation executives said the schools would only use the premises for six months before moving to nearby buildings. -- JP
