Schneider Electric Prepares Major Fund for Clean Energy Startups, with Indonesia in the Spotlight
Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy technology, has partnered with Swiss-Asia Financial Services to support the development and fundraising for the Schneider Electric Energy Access Asia Fund II (SEEAA Fund II). This new blended finance fund is designed to address the early-stage funding gap for clean energy startups across South and Southeast Asia. For Indonesia, this momentum reflects the country’s important position within the regional SEEAA portfolio, while highlighting the growing role of local startups in strengthening the clean energy value chain. The partnership combines Schneider Electric’s expertise in energy transition, impact investing experience, and regional ecosystem with Swiss-Asia’s capabilities in fund management, structuring, and investor engagement. The collaboration is expected to accelerate the launch of SEEAA Fund II and broaden its impact. Pying-Huan Wang, Chief Executive Officer of Swiss-Asia Financial Services, stated that the firm hopes to strengthen its fund management relationship with Indonesia, noting its 22 years of operational experience in Southeast Asia and long-standing support for Indonesian entrepreneurs. SEEAA Fund II is a planned multi-million-dollar blended finance equity fund targeting early-stage clean energy startups in South and Southeast Asia, including India, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. The fund will target technology-enabled business models with the potential to scale, covering areas such as energy generation, energy efficiency, energy management, the circular economy, and green financing. Through its blended finance structure, SEEAA Fund II aims to attract and mobilise more private capital into high-impact, early-stage clean energy startups. The fund builds on the achievements of SEEAA Fund I, which successfully provided catalytic capital to 13 companies. SEEAA Fund II is expected to reduce approximately 3 million tonnes of CO2 emissions, benefit 3.5 million people, and create around 5,000 jobs. SEEAA has established a track record in the Asian energy access ecosystem as a catalytic investor, supporting high-impact startups focused on clean energy access, energy efficiency, climate resilience, and inclusive growth. To prepare for Fund II, Schneider Electric utilised the Asia Climate Solutions Design Grant from Convergence, a grant awarded through the Blended Finance Accelerator programme. This grant will be used to refine the blended finance structure of Fund II and accelerate the fundraising and investor engagement process, with the goal of reaching more impactful, capital-starved startups in the region. As part of Schneider Electric’s sustainability ambitions, SEEAA supports the company’s commitment to expanding access to sustainable energy and promoting a just energy transition. Through impact-focused investments, the initiative broadens access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy services for underserved communities. This partnership and initiative also align with Schneider Electric’s long-term ambition to expand its impact in Asia through strategic partnerships that mobilise capital for clean energy and climate solutions. Indonesia serves as a strong example of SEEAA’s regional practice. By the end of December 2025, Indonesian companies supported by SEEAA had collectively reached more than 38,000 beneficiaries, reduced over 407,000 tCO₂e of emissions, and created more than 280 jobs in Asia. These companies include Xurya, which helps commercial and industrial customers adopt rooftop solar through a zero-upfront-cost, end-to-end model; SolarKita, which expands rooftop solar access for homes and businesses; Dash Electric, which provides low-carbon mobility and logistics solutions while helping create more predictable income for gig economy workers; and Agros, which supports smallholder farmers through sustainable agriculture solutions, including solar-powered irrigation and tailored financing. Martin Setiawan, President Director of Schneider Electric Indonesia & Timor-Leste, said that Indonesia’s energy transition will be significantly shaped by the strength of local innovators and partnerships that promise scalable potential. He expressed pride in supporting startups like Xurya, SolarKita, Dash Electric, and Agros through SEEAA, while contributing to a broader regional platform to unlock more capital flows and support through the planned SEEAA Fund II. Beyond SEEAA, Schneider Electric’s commitment to inclusive climate action is also reflected in its long-term involvement in the Livelihoods Funds programme, which drives long-term transformation by linking climate action, regenerative agriculture, and sustainable supply chains through nature-based solutions.
