The Importance of Fasting in the Month of Zulhijjah

According to an explanation from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the first ten days of the month of Zulhijjah are a time of great significance for Muslims. During these days, Muslims are encouraged to increase their worship and good deeds.

One of the recommended practices is the voluntary fasting in Zulhijjah. Meanwhile, the Tarwiyah fast is observed on the 8th of Zulhijjah, and the Arafah fast is observed on the 9th of Zulhijjah, or the day before Eid al-Adha. The Arafah fast holds great importance for Muslims who are not performing the Hajj pilgrimage. In addition to fasting, Muslims are also encouraged to increase their remembrance of God (zikir), charity, and other acts of worship in the early days of Zulhijjah.
