Schedule and Access Information for National Dhikr Event at Monas Today
The Metro Jaya Regional Police have deployed 1,263 joint personnel to secure the National Dhikr and Prayer event held at the National Monument (Monas) Square, Central Jakarta, today, Saturday (1/8/2026), in commemoration of the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia. The Head of Public Relations for Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol. Budi Hermanto, confirmed that the security force is a synergy of the police, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Jakarta Provincial Government.
Personnel have been positioned to provide a sense of safety and comfort for all participants while ensuring that routine public activities continue uninterrupted. To anticipate high visitor density, the Metro Jaya Police have established access schemes for both the general public and VVIP/VIP guests. In addition to entrance management, police are intensifying area sterilisation and implementing both open and undercover security patterns around the Monas area, including the preparation of parking zones and early detection measures.
Regarding traffic flow around Central Jakarta, Budi added that traffic engineering will be situational, based on real-time field conditions, to balance access for attendees with the mobility of local residents.
In a separate statement, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar invited all layers of society to attend the event. The Ministry of Religious Affairs estimates that this spiritual gathering will be attended by approximately 100,000 worshippers from various regions. The event, which features Habib Syech bin Abdul Qodir Assegaf and various interfaith leaders, is scheduled to take place from 17:00 to 21:30 WIB. The public can begin entering the area from 15:00 WIB through security doors located on the north and south sides of Monas. For those unable to fit within the main area, the committee has prepared LED screens at various points outside Monas.
The event is being coordinated under the Ministry of State Secretariat. The Palace has outlined a series of activities for the 81st Independence Day celebrations throughout August 2026, ranging from national dhikr to ceremonies at the Merdeka Palace and people’s festivals at Monas. The government is currently developing a celebration concept that allows for broader public involvement beyond the Palace grounds.
