Scenes of Chaos During Hotel Sultan Execution

The execution of a court order to vacate Hotel Sultan in the Gelora Bung Karno area of Jakarta ended in chaos. Supporters refusing the eviction order remained in front of the hotel area and refused to disperse. The Central Jakarta District Court, along with police and military personnel, attempted to enter the Hotel Sultan area. The crowd of supporters fought back, striking officers with wooden sticks and throwing plastic bottles. As the situation became volatile, police sprayed the crowd with water cannons. The supporters were eventually pushed back, and authorities secured control of Hotel Sultan. Deputy Minister of State Secretary Bambang Eko Suhariyanto previously emphasised that the eviction was carried out because the property is a state asset, based on a Central Jakarta District Court decision ordering the execution of the eviction for Block 15 of the Gelora Bung Karno complex, formerly the Hotel Sultan. Bambang further explained that the action followed President Prabowo Subianto’s directive to reclaim government or state assets that had been controlled by other parties.
