Scenes of 80-Hectare Forest Fire in the Mount Bromo Area
A forest and land fire spanning 80 hectares has struck the Mount Bromo area as of Wednesday (5/8). As a result, three access points to the Mount Bromo tourist area—Jemplang, Coban Trisula, and Senduro—have been closed. The East Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) stated that the fire hotspots first appeared in Watugede and subsequently spread to several other areas. A joint task force has been deployed to the location to conduct firefighting operations in the Sea of Sand and Watugede areas. BPBD will deploy two water-bombing helicopter units and a fleet of ember-dousing drones to extinguish the fire.
