Scene Under Pasar Rebo Flyover Suddenly Becomes a Boxing Ring

Residents are engaging in activities at the boxing arena under the Pasar Rebo flyover in Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026). The Jakarta Provincial Government has built a boxing arena or boxing camp to suppress frequent youth brawls in the area. Observations at the site show a boxing ring already in place, along with six punching bags and one speed bag. “Jakarta Militan Fight Boxing Camp,” reads one of the banners at the location. The boxing arena is provided so that residents can channel their energy into positive activities and potentially produce young athlete prospects from the surrounding community. The sports facility is still being prepared and is scheduled to be officially opened on 12 May by Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung. To maximise the function of the boxing arena, a management structure has been formed involving competent boxers as trainers and local RT/RW officials as supervisors. With the sports facility under the Pasar Rebo flyover, it is hoped that it can be continuously maintained and developed as a training venue.
