Scavengers and Quran Teachers Receive Zakat Fitrah

Agus, who works daily as a scavenger, expressed his gratitude upon receiving zakat fitrah from BSI Maslahat. The same goes for Sopian, a Quran teacher in Kampung Pemulung Bintara Jaya. “I live alone. My usual income is only Rp10,000 per day. To meet daily needs, I have to make do. Thank you for the assistance. May your sustenance be blessed,” said Agus. Sopian assessed that this zakat fitrah aid is very well-targeted and provides real benefits to the local community. “Kampung Pemulung Bintara Jaya is not far from the capital, but there are still many social issues. The majority of residents are scavengers, including their children. They work from morning until night and their income is only enough for food. This rice zakat fitrah aid is very helpful and on target. The people here really need it.” It is known that the majority of residents in Kampung Pemulung work as scavengers with a maximum income of Rp100,000 per day. Even then, they often struggle to achieve that because the collected scraps are only valued at around Rp4,000 per kilogram. They are one of the targets of zakat fitrah distribution from BSI Maslahat. Until 19 March 2026, BSI Maslahat distributed 7,150 bags of rice or equivalent to about 35 tons to those in need.
