SC of IX Congress Sets Six Candidates for PB SEMMI Chairman 2026–2029

The Steering Committee (SC) of the IX Congress of the Indonesian Muslim Students Union (SEMMI) has officially named six candidates for the position of General Chairman of the Central Board (PB) SEMMI for the 2026–2029 period. The decision was made during a PB SEMMI daily meeting on Friday (10/7/2026) after all verification stages were completed. The official decision is contained in Letter Number: 003/A/SC-KONGRES/SEMMI/VII/2026 concerning the Notification of Candidate Determination for the General Chairman of PB SEMMI for the 2026–2029 Period. The six cadres officially designated as candidates are Achmad Donny, Ahmad Chalil Gibran, Muhammad Senanatha, M. Dwi Apriyanto, Febriansyah Putra, and Gurun Arisastra. The Coordinator of the IX SEMMI Congress SC, Ahmad Marzuki Toekan, emphasised that the entire candidate screening process was carried out professionally, objectively, and transparently in accordance with the organisation’s Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART). ‘The determination of these six candidates is the result of a thorough verification process carried out in accordance with the organisation’s mechanisms. We ensure that all prospective candidates received equal treatment at every stage,’ Ahmad told reporters on Sunday (12/7/2026). Ahmad explained that following this determination, the six candidates are scheduled to enter a crucial stage involving the presentation of their vision, mission, and strategic ideas. The leadership direction forum will be held directly before the Syarikat Islam Executive Board (LTSI) as the parent organisation. ‘Through this forum, it is hoped that all candidates can openly convey their best ideas so that they become a reference for Congress participants in determining the leadership of PB SEMMI for the upcoming period,’ he added. Ahead of the peak election at the IX SEMMI Congress Plenary Session, the SC urged all Regional Boards (PW), Branch Boards (PC), cadres, and alumni across Indonesia to maintain a conducive atmosphere. Political dynamics and differing choices are expected to be a space for consolidation, not division. ‘Differences in choice are part of the dynamics of organisational democracy. However, what is far more important is maintaining the unity, brotherhood, and dignity of SEMMI. Whoever is elected is the result of the decision of the organisation’s highest forum and must be respected and upheld together,’ concluded Ahmad.
