SBY, Jokowi, and JK Leave the Palace After 3.5-Hour Meeting with Prabowo
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former presidents and former vice presidents of the Republic of Indonesia left the Jakarta Presidential Palace one by one on Tuesday (3 March 2026) after meeting and conversing with President Prabowo Subianto for about 3.5 hours. The discussions began around 19:30 local time and ended around 23:10 local time. Then precisely at 23:13 local time, the 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the 13th Vice President Ma’ruf Amin left the Merdeka Palace for a car already parked at the end of the blue carpet on the palace’s right-hand side. They were accompanied by their aide-de-camp AKBP Syarif Muhammad Fitriansyah and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Before entering the car, Secretary to the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya appeared to greet Jokowi. Meanwhile Gibran entered the same car as Jokowi. After that, at 23:15 local time, the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) left the Merdeka Palace. He was accompanied by his son, who is also the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. Likewise, the 11th Vice President Boediono left the Merdeka Palace. Secretary to the Cabinet Teddy Indra Wijaya said President Prabowo had invited former presidents, former vice presidents, former foreign ministers, and the chairmen of political parties in Parliament. The reason, he said, was that Prabowo wanted to discuss and listen to input from these figures. “Certainly this tonight is for discussions and cordial exchanges of views. The President wishes to hear the views of those figures,” Teddy said at the Istana, Jakarta, on Tuesday night. However, Teddy stressed that various matters would be discussed, including the geopolitical situation. “Everything will be discussed. It hasn’t started yet,” he added.
