SBY backs enactment of pornography bill

JAKARTA: President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has give support
for the passing of the bill on pornography and indecent acts and
the bill on women and child trafficking into law.

"I agree 100 percent. It's work that must be done by the
President and the House of Representatives," he said while
addressing a ceremony marking the anniversary of Women's Day at
the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah in Jakarta on Thursday.

Earlier, Indonesian Women's Congress (Kowani) chairperson
Linda Agum Gumelar told the same event that the government and
the House should immediately pass the two bills into law.

In response, Susilo asked the legislature to heed Kowani's
request immediately.

With regard to the issue of women's political representation,
the President said the government and the House would work hard
to ensure the enactment of fair regulations for women.

"We do not want to see any discrimination against women," he
