Savannah Area Near Bromo's Teletubbies Hill Caught in Fire

A forest and land fire (karhutla) has occurred once again within the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area. This time, the flames have burnt a savannah area in the Pengol Block, Probolinggo Regency.

The fire was reported to have become visible at 16:10 WIB today. The Pengol Block is a valley and savannah region located on the southern side of Mount Bromo, situated in close proximity to the Teletubbies Hill area.

This location is part of the TNBTS area and serves as one of the prominent savannah landscapes on the southern slopes of Mount Bromo in Probolinggo Regency.

The Head of the Probolinggo Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Oemar Sjarif, confirmed the recurrence of the fire in Bromo when asked for confirmation via text message.

“Yes, we have just received information from the community,” said Oemar, as reported on Thursday (10/09/2026).

According to him, officers from the Probolinggo Regency BPBD are immediately heading to the fire site to carry out containment and handling efforts.
