Saudi princess fined for abusing maid
USA: A Florida court on Tuesday sentenced a Saudi princess to a
fine of US$1,000 for pushing her Indonesian maid down the stairs,
local television stations reported.
Princess Buniah al-Saud, 41, was in Saudi Arabia and did not
attend the trial. Her lawyers did not contest the battery charge
against her before a court in Orlando.
She was fined $1,000 for pushing Ismiytai Memet Suryone, 36
down a flight of stairs last December.
In February, the judge had allowed al-Saud to return to Saudi
Arabia after the princess promised she would return for the
trial.
She is a niece of Saudi ruler King Fahd of Saudi Arabia. --
