Saudi National Causing Commotion at Ngurah Rai Airport Found to Have Overstayed
A Saudi Arabian woman with the initials ASAM was deported on Wednesday (10/6/2026) after it was discovered she had overstayed her permit in Indonesia. She had previously caused a commotion in the area of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
The incident began on Wednesday (10/6/2026) at around 08:30 WITA. Security officers at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport received a report about a foreign national shouting in the airport car park.
The foreign national was then secured by airport security and handed over to the Badung Regency Tourism Public Order Agency (Satpol PP).
Referring to Badung Regency Regional Regulation Number 7 of 2016 concerning Public Order and Community Peace, the Badung Tourism Satpol PP together with the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office submitted a request for a deportation recommendation.
From the results of the examination, it was discovered that ASAM entered Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on 7 April 2026 using a Visa on Arrival (VoA) for tourism purposes. The granted stay permit was valid until 6 May 2026.
However, ASAM claimed not to know or understand the time limit of her stay permit in Indonesia. She only realised she had overstayed after her departure via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport was cancelled on 3 June 2026.
In addition, she admitted she was unable to pay the overstay fees because she had lost her bank card (Bank Visa Card). Ngurah Rai Immigration then coordinated with the Saudi Arabian consular representative to ensure the deportation process proceeded according to procedure.
Subsequently, ASAM was repatriated to her home country on Wednesday (10/6/2026) at 21:55 WITA using a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight bound for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Bugie Kurniawan, responded that ignorance regarding the time limit of a stay cannot be used as a justification for immigration violations.
“This case serves as a reminder to all foreign nationals to always understand and comply with the applicable stay permit provisions. We also appreciate the excellent synergy between I Gusti Ngurah Rai airport security, the Badung Regency Tourism Satpol PP, and Ngurah Rai Immigration in handling this case quickly and in a coordinated manner,” stressed Bugie.
