Saudi Ministry of Hajj Ensures Smooth Organisation of 2026 Hajj Despite Middle East Conflict
Jakarta, Kompas.com — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj has confirmed the smooth conduct of the 2026 hajj pilgrimage, or 1447 H, despite ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
This was announced by Indonesia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Mochammad Irfan Yusuf (known as Gus Irfan), during a working session with Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.
“We are in constant communication with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj, and to this day they remain committed to ensuring everything runs smoothly,” said Gus Irfan during the working session at the Parliamentary Complex in Jakarta on Wednesday.
“Hajj organisation preparations continue. One hundred per cent of pilgrim accommodation has already been rented and paid for,” Gus Irfan stated.
Additionally, 203,320 documents for regular hajj pilgrims have been submitted for visa processing, with 198,410 visas issued as of 10 March 2026, representing 97.58 per cent approval.
“The Saudi Minister of Hajj called to express appreciation for Indonesia’s speed in processing visa applications,” said Gus Irfan.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has also signed contracts with 52 food kitchens in Makkah and 23 kitchens in Madinah to cater for Indonesian pilgrims.
Despite the Middle East conflict, he noted that hajj organisation preparations remain on schedule as planned.
