Saudi-Led Coalition Says It Intercepted Houthi Drones and Ballistic Missile
Riyadh (ANTARA) – Coalition spokesman Turki Al-Maliki said on social media platform X that Saudi air defences had intercepted and destroyed three drones over Riyadh, the Saudi capital, and the country’s southern region.
In a separate announcement, the coalition said it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi group towards Riyadh.
Earlier that day, the coalition said it had carried out a “qualitative military operation” targeting areas in Yemen controlled by the Houthis. It said the operation destroyed five tunnels used to store ballistic missiles, four ballistic missile launchers and a missile storage facility.
The operation also targeted Houthi supply routes linking areas under the group’s control, as well as fortifications, personnel and military equipment along front lines inside Yemen, the coalition said.
The developments come amid escalating hostilities between Yemen’s Houthi group and Saudi Arabia, a key ally of the Yemeni government. The two sides have traded attacks and issued military warnings in recent days.
