Saudi Crown Prince MBS Furious with Iran, What Happened?
Saudi Arabia is reported to be furious with Iran. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has denounced and condemned Tehran’s ‘brutal’ attack on Bahrain. This emerged during a telephone conversation with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain on Thursday. MBS, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), expressed the kingdom’s full support and solidarity with Bahrain. During the phone call, Prince Mohammed (MBS) expressed Saudi Arabia’s ‘condemnation and denunciation’ of the attack targeting Bahraini territory. He also reaffirmed the kingdom’s ‘full solidarity’ with Bahrain and ‘support for any measures necessary to safeguard its security and stability’. The United States and Iran became involved in new strikes earlier this week, after US forces attacked vessels near the Strait of Hormuz heading to Tehran and Qeshm Island. Tehran retaliated with missile strikes on Wednesday against US bases located in Bahrain and Kuwait. In Kuwait specifically, Iranian drones reportedly struck Kuwait International Airport, killing one person and injuring 63 others. The deceased was identified as an expatriate from India. Previously, the United Arab Emirates called for a unified stance from Gulf states following the attacks on Kuwait and Bahrain. The UAE described the events as repeated Iranian aggression against ‘brotherly nations’. ‘A firm, united, and cohesive Gulf stance is essential. No Gulf state should face these attacks alone, because the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states is interconnected, their interests are shared, and their destiny is the same,’ said UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash in a post on X. ‘This aggression does not target just one country, but targets us all,’ he added.
