Saudi Arabia's envoy leaving RI soon
JAKARTA: Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Indonesia Abdullah Abdul Rahman Alim will soon be leaving Indonesia when his tenure in Jakarta ends, a source close to the Saudi Arabian Embassy said.
The source said Ambassador Alim, who first submitted his credentials on Jan. 16, 1993 to president Soeharto, is the most popular envoy among Indonesian Muslims. He helped several Islamic charity organizations during his tenure in Indonesia.
The out-going ambassador's wife Afaf M.S. Bahareth has also been active in various social as well as humanitarian activities.
During his more than 12-year stay in Jakarta, Alim has worked with five Indonesian presidents. -- JP
